Before I share how you can enter the giveaway I am having, I'd like for you to consider something. Do you still have in your possession a card from someone? Why do you still have it? How did receiving the card make you feel? How does it still make you feel today?
Okay, now back to the GIVEAWAY!
I'm having a giveaway of some happy mail of a set of FOREVER personalized cards! Simply answer this question:
Do you like to send out...or receive...Christmas and/or Holiday Cards*?

Can I share my response with you?
I have great intention to send out Christmas cards every year, but I can't remember the last time I got them actually to the post office. Last year was the closest I've gotten in a while. I had all of the envelopes addressed. I just never got stamps on them.
I have also noticed that my mailbox has been getting less and less filled with Christmas cards from friends and family, even businesses. I believe it to be a combination of things. First, I believe I have fallen off a lot of people's mailing lists since they believe they were knocked off of mine since they stopped receiving a card from me and my family. Second, I believe people see cards as a waste of resources and not good for the environment. "It's just going to get thrown away after the holidays, anyway." Third, I believe people are simply not seeing the value in a card anymore. We all do more of our communications in the way of text, email, and social media posts. It's easier and quicker to digitally send our holiday well wishes, and the perception is that people prefer that method nowadays.
I'm not one of those people. I LOVE getting snail mail. It means the world to me to receive a handwritten note of love, even if that handwritten note is typed. Probably even more so nowadays, because it is easier to type one message for everyone on your list and hit the return button to send. No need to take time to address an envelope, lick it close, purchase and place a stamp on it and drop it off at the post office or in a mailbox. (Are there mailboxes around anymore other than at the post office?)
By not sending cards out, the sender creates more time to do the things that are more meaningful for the holiday spirit, right? Or does it really?
I have some thoughts about the first, second, and third reasons I list above for why people may not send out Christmas cards. Here they are:
First, don't play the quid pro quo game of I'll only send Christmas cards to those that send one to me. Live the Golden Rule...or a tweak of it...that goes something like this: "Give others a card because you like how it makes you feel to receive one, even if they don't send you one first, or ever."
Second, keep Bob the Builder in mind. "Reuse, recycle!" (Okay, so I left off reduce. I totally agree with reducing! But, regarding cards, I personally see so many opportunities to bless someone with them...like a card ministry! So, I would rather focus on reusing & recycling the cards!) So, don't throw away your Christmas cards at the end of the holiday season. Here are some ideas of what you can do with Christmas cards each year:
What other ideas do you have? Please share with us!
Third, don't shortcut the Christmas spirit! Don't try to cut corners thinking it will give you more time to add more Christmas spirit to your season. Christmas cards can have a very powerful effect on the recipient of your love with the card!
Even if you only can get around to sending out 1 card this year, do it with sincere joy! In fact, keep the Christmas spirit going all year long! Send out a card (any type of card) once a day, once a week, or once a month...whatever your ONE is for you that you can do with sincere joy, do it! Maybe you'll find yourself sending out 10 or 20 cards the following year, maybe even more.
But, there will be seasons in your life that you just simply cannot get your cards sent. That's ok. Embrace your season. Don't beat yourself up and feel discouraged. Don't let it steal your Christmas joy! Just return to focusing on ONE card the next time you can.
Let's appreciate the power a card sent with love can have!
Bob the Builder really does say it best: REDUCE (our belief that cards are a thing of the past), REUSE (the love we feel when we receive a card) and RECYCLE (make new keepsakes with our cards and perpetuate the power of the card's blessing)!
Just a reminder...Enter my giveaway by sharing your response to whether you like to send...or receive...Christmas cards! Thanks for reading my response! But, don't feel like you will only win the giveaway if agree with my response. It is a random drawing, so please share your honest response! Whether you send or receive cards or not, make all of the words you share, be it digitally or handwritten, be words of building up!
Good luck! I hope you win the giveaway!
You may already know about the iPhone camera tip I want to talk about today, because I am usually a few years behind the average user of technology. But, when you experience something amazing, you just can't help but to share your excitement with others just in case it may be new news to them benefitting them in some way. So, here I share...
Did you know that you can use your headphones that have inline volume controls on the cable to take a photo with your iPhone camera?
I am hoping one of you is saying, "Wait, WHAT?!" so I can now say, "I know, RIGHT?! Crazy good stuff!"
Or, you might be saying, "they sell remote control buttons for your iPhone's camera." But, what I like is that I don't have to buy anything to make this tip work for me. More than likely, you already received a headphone with your phone. It's something you already have in your possession...so, FREE! Who doesn't love FREE?
We'll return to this blog post in just a moment, but first this commercial break...
Speaking of FREE, have you gotten FOREVER®'s FREE 2GB STORAGE ACCOUNT yet? Have you downloaded FOREVER®'s FREE APP? Did I mention it's FREE? And, you get a $10 coupon to use for a future purchase if you wish! Seriously, FOREVER® is awesome!
And, now back to your previously scheduled blog post...
Seriously, I am a really bad selfie taker. I always feel like a T-Rex dinosaur. I can never get the camera far enough away from me and/or the group I am with to not only get the right angle but to also keep my finger steady on the main button to snap the photo.
Yes, you can also take a photo by clicking on the up or down volume button on the side of your iPhone, but again, my T-Rex arms and hands can't seem to grasp the camera with dexterity to click on those buttons without dropping the phone or capturing a blur of my image. Even pressing the main camera button causes me to put the photo in action mode sometimes with my unsteady extremities.
But, now that I know about this little trick, my selfies are steady! You can hold the phone, place it in a tripod, use a pop up suction holder, or simply prop the phone up against something like I have done in the photos below to take steady photos using attached headphones with the inline volume controls on the cable! To blow your mind even more (it did mine), you can use a bluetooth headphone's volume controls.
So, that's my photo fun tip of the day! (You're going to go grab your headphones and give a selfie a try, aren't you? I hope so! Have fun!)
Do you have an iPhone photo tip? Please share! And, be on the lookout in this series for a few more!
Here's to Steady Selfies! Enjoy!
Do you have a precious little one in your life? A child, grandchild, niece, nephew, godchild, or a friend's child? What gifts do you like to gift the youngster in your life? Besides love, prayers, and presence, my favorite gift to give a child is a book.
Books can be the windows to the world for a child giving them the courage to journey into amazing lands and inspiring them to dream big dreams. Books educate and entertain...at any age! But, to foster a child's love for reading books at an early age can set them up for a foundation of life-long learning.
That's why I make it a point to give a youngster a book for any special gift-giving occasion or for any day "just because" reasons. But, I prefer to not give just any book. My preference of choice is to give a one-of-a-kind book, such as a homemade A-B-C keepsake book.
What is a homemade A-B-C one-of-a-kind keepsake book? It's a book you make with photos you take of people, places, or things to represent each letter of the alphabet. You can make this book be whatever you want it to be. You can create a theme with the photos or keep it an eclectic collage of photos.
You can also add your own writing to the pages of the book with personal messages, words of wisdom, humor, scripture, inspirational quotes, or explanations about the photos. The ideas are endless!
Are you excited about this idea? But, did you just think about Q, X, or Z? What could you take a photo of when it comes to these less common letters of the alphabet?
There's lots of possibilities you can do. The next time you are in the grocery store, keep your eyes open for items that begin with these letters, or search online for words that begin with the letter you need to jumpstart your photo scavenger hunt.
So, grab your cell phone/camera and get ready to seek out and capture a minimum of 26 pictures, one for each letter of the alphabet. On your mark, get set...
But, before you go, here are some ideas to keep in mind while picture taking in order to make your A-B-C Book the one-of-a-kind keepsake it will be:
